The City of Battlefield does have ordinances requiring dogs to be vaccinated, licensed and leashed within the City Limits. The specifics of those ordinances can be found in Title II: Public Health, Safety and Welfare, Chapter 205: Animal Regulations. All dogs may be registered with the City Collector for a fee of $2.00

The City of Battlefield does not have a full-time Animal Control officer. If you wish to report a lost or found animal, please contact City Hall at 883-5840 during normal business hours. We have a bulletin board outside the main entrance where pictures and descriptions of animals are posted as they are reported. Animals in custody will also have photographs posted on the City website within 24 hours. The City has an agreement with the Southwest Missouri K-9's no-kill shelter to place as many dogs as possible in foster homes, otherwise dogs are taken to the Springfield/Greene County Animal Shelter after 7 days.

If you wish to claim your dog from the impoundment, please bring proof of ownership and vaccination records to City Hall during normal business hours. As per Section 206.080, a $15 per day fee will be charged prior to release.
